“Blow the trumpet; my soul is anchored,”

Scripture references:  1 Thessalonians 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. NIV

Hebrews 6: 18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; 20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. King James Version

a.k.a. “J.J.” and “Jimmie/Jimmy”

By Kathy Wright-Wainer

Born on March 17, 1832, in Ross County Ohio to James and Harriett Elizabeth Schneider-Wright.

Deceased at 80 years of age on March 11, 1913, as a result of either Wright’s or Blight’s Disease [liver and kidney disease respectively and hard to decipher on death certificate] at the home of his son Nathaniel in Princeton, Mercer County, Missouri.

Married Mary Ann Gleason of Gallia County Ohio on October 26, 1854.

Mary Ann was born on March 17, 1835, to Elijah and Sarah Gee-Gleason; Gallia County Ohio and died on March 7, 1916; additionally, at Nathaniel’s home in Princeton.

It is very interesting how they shared a birth month and day as well as almost the same month and day of death.

During their lifetime, they were farmers both in Ohio and Missouri. Several years after James’ father passed, the entire clan of Wrights moved west to the north central region of Missouri and settled primarily in Princeton of Mercer County. According to J.J. and Mary Ann’s son John Harvey, the move was made when he was six years old; 1871.

According to my grandfather, Eldon Wright (John Harvey’s son), J.J. (as he called him) and Mary Ann were kind people that were very loving and well liked by all. He also had a gleam in his eye and a warm smile on his face as he affectingly spoke of them and also stated that J.J. had a sense of humor.

Please note the errors in gravestone dates: the year of birth for both is 10 years too early with his death in 1913 not 1912. He was six days short of his 81st birthday when he passed as confirmed by his death certificate. Coincidentally, Mary was ten days shy of her 81st birthday when she passed in 1916.

Mrs. Wright when young joined the Bible Christian Church and not only followed the Master’s teachings during her entire life, but always encouraged others to do the same and by her kindly manner and winning disposition, she set a good example for all who came in contact with her.

After a long, busy and useful life, she died as she had lived– honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of all who knew her. Her life was completed if work all one and well done constitutes completion.”
